Safe Kids Clark County Delivers Safety On Mother's Day
Gift Baskets are Safety Starter Kits For New Moms
On Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Sunrise Hospital, safety experts from Safe Kids Clark County delivered very special gift baskets to new mothers on the maternal/infant unit. The goal is to offer pediatric injury prevention information and safety-minded gifts to new parents. Safe Kids' philosophy is to assist families in making every day a safe day. To that end, what better way to celebrate Mother's Day than by giving the gift of safety? The colorful gift baskets included items such as smoke detectors, safety locks, a coupon for a free car seat safety check and much more.
"Awareness is the key to keeping kids safe. If we can get the message to parents from the beginning, we are way ahead on keeping kids safe," states Jeanne Cosgrove, RN, Safe Kids Director.
"These safety starter kits are a great way to congratulate new moms on their special day and convey vital information at the same time," Cosgrove continues.
Sunrise Hospital has been the lead organization for Safe Kids since 1993. Sunrise has been instrumental in allowing Safe Kids to bring the community a variety of safety and injury prevention messages over the years. Accidents are the leading cause of injury and death to children 14 and younger. Because Sunrise houses the only children's hospital in Southern Nevada and offers a Level 2 Trauma Center, injury prevention is an integral part of their mission. Through Safe Kids and their other programs, Sunrise Hospital can extend their reach to the community.
Postpartum mother's are sure to enjoy the colorful baskets & safety gifts.
