European Study Concludes Children Are Better Off Rear-Facing to Age 4
Posted on Wednesday Aug 6, 2008
Researchers looked at UK, US, and Swedish accident databases covering a period of 7 years and concluded that had the seriously or fatally injured children been rear-facing, there would have been greatly different outcomes. Also of note is that they found items in the trunks of the vehicles were pushing through rear vehicle seats and deforming them on impact. It's an interesting read and goes very quickly once you get past the first few pages.

We'll be covering LATCH and its complexities, new seat technologies, and new vehicle safety features. We'll also be providing recertification information.
And for the main reason you'll want to come? It's worth an easy 3 CEUs! Remember that you can earn these at any point during your recertification cycle, so it's never too early to stock up.
Lunch will be provided.
Please RSVP before May 12 to Heather Watson.
Dorel Recall Repair Kits for Technicians
Posted on Saturday Sep 1, 2007
Dear CPS Advocate:
We value your commitment to children, and hope that the program described below will help empower you to proactively help parents and caregivers keep their children secure while traveling.
Dorel Juvenile Group is issuing a Voluntary Safety Recall for Cosco, Eddie Bauer, Safety 1st, and Alpha branded convertible car seats manufactured from November 2003 through December 2005. Internal evaluations have determined that there is a potential for the harness adjustment strap to loosen during use. While the possibility of loosening is rare, we feel that it is important for consumers to replace the harness adjustment strap to ensure that their child is restrained properly. No accidents or incidents have been reported.
Affected Models:
Cosco: Alpha Omega, Alpha Omega Elite: 22150, 22155, 22180, 22269; Eddie Bauer: 3-in-1, Deluxe 3-in-1, Deluxe Convertible: 22750, 22755, 22756, 22757, 22770, 22740; Safety 1st: Alpha Elite, Alpha Omega, Alpha Omega Elite, Alpha Sport, Intera, Enspira: 22151, 22450, 22451, 22452, 22453, 22455, 22460, 22480, 22481
Since we know that you are in direct contact with parents and caregivers who may own these models, we would like to offer you easy access to repair kits for car seat inspections. Beginning September 10th, technicians, instructors, and inspection station coordinators can order repair kits by calling 800.219.0509. This slight delay for CPS educator orders will allow us to respond quickly to direct consumer calls. We have pre-authorized up to two kits, per advocate, and can provide additional kits when they have been
used and documented.
For the first time we are also providing an instructional video for
consumers to view while replacing the harness adjustment strap.
Thank you for taking time to learn about our recall kit program for CPS advocates. We hope it will help empower you in the CPS community. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at cpsinfo@djgusa.com.
Sincerely,
Dorel Juvenile Group
